Randy Boyd founded the Radio Fence Corporation in Knoxville, Tennessee in a modular office and began selling its first product, Radio Fence, in June. Nearly $1 million in product was sold by the year’s end.
In anticipation of future training products in the next few years, including bark collars and remote trainers, the company name changed to Radio Systems Corporation.
Our new office building opened on National Drive.
We began partnerships with manufacturing teams in China, a move that improved our product quality, prices, and reliability.
Radio Systems reached $24 million in sales. That officially put us on the map as the largest supplier of electronic pet containment systems.
With our first acquisition, Austin Innovations, we added ultrasonic training products to our portfolio.
The PetSafe and Guardian Brands were born. Fencing, training, and bark products were marketed as part of the PetSafe brand instead of Radio Systems.
We acquired Johnson Pet Doors and U.S. Pet Products.
Headquarters moved in Knoxville, TN to our current PetSafe® Way location.
PetSafe Limited, our marketing partner for European sales, joined our company, allowing us to market internationally under the PetSafe brand name.
Hunting enthusiasts got access to a line of hunting and training products as part of the newly formed SportDOG® Brand.
The PetSafe Village opened across from our main building in Knoxville.
We broke $100 million in sales.
Radio Fence Distributors, our PetSafe Pro containment installers, joined the company.
Our catalog expanded to include pet doors and chainlink kennels with 2 new acquisitions, Fencemaster and Reilor Holdings’s Staywell, LTD., the largest pet door manufacturer in Europe.
The China Development Center opened in Shenzhen.
To provide full-service fencing, doors, and pet proofing in addition to DIY products, we acquired Invisible Fence® Technologies, Inc.
We also added Innotek electronic training products to our catalog.
The first of many PetSafe dog parks opened to the public.
Training products from Contech, Inc., MultiVet International, Inc., and Lucky Dog Equipment expanded our catalog.
SportDOG Brand launched the Conservation Fund, giving 4 conservation groups habitat-enhancement projects grants totaling $18,000.
Pet Porte Ltd. microchip pet doors joined our pet door portfolio.
To market products in Asia, we established Radio Systems Corporation Japan and PetSafe Shenzhen Ltd. China.
Radio Systems expanded into 6 new locations and added 200 new associates with several acquisitions. We acquired Premier Pet Products, Inc., Veterinary Ventures, Inc., Pet Loo, JGB, Inc., and assets of Unleashed Technologies and Tracker, expanding the portfolio to include fountains, harnesses, collars, leashes, clickers, treats, pet toilets, and more.
PetSafe Brand launched the first annual Bark For Your Park™ campaign for U.S. cities to compete to win money to build a dog park.
SportDOG Brand introduced TEK, a combination GPS Tracking & Remote Training System.
Cat owners rejoiced when we acquired Lucky Litter's ScoopFree® litter boxes and FroliCat® toys.
Dundalk, Ireland became the newest office as part of Radio Systems PetSafe Europe Limited.
We acquired Pup-Pee Solutions© pet toilets.
Invisible Fence introduced wire-free GPS containment.
Invisible Fence grew to 289 dealerships across 7 countries.
Piddle Place™ pet potty products joined our house training category. PetSafe Brand expanded the Bark For Your Park campaign to help even more dog parks across the U.S.
